A tourist ‘paradise up north

 Rarely does one find a hot and arid land with enough attractions to keep visitors enthralled for days. But Turkana country offers just that. Visitors to this scarcely populated land are greeted by a fascinating variety of sights and sounds. One can get a taste of the local turkana people’s rich cultural heritage, which is reflected in their architecture, fashion and general way of life.

On average, a safari to this part of the country takes about 3 days from Nairobi (capital of Kenya ). Several tour companies make regular trips here at a cost of sh4, 700 per day, usually in a convoy. From Nairobi the convoy heads to Marsabit in Samburu district across the Chalbi desert.

From the chalbi deserts the convoy snakes through North Horr district through Longiyangalani where you can rest to catch a spectacular view of Oases on the shore of Lake Turkana .

A clear blue sky covers the land. In the distance, a chain of rugged hills squats on a blanket of calcareous sandy loam soil, commonly known as red desert soil.

TURKANA HIDE AWAY there major hideaways on the lake where one can get accomodation or pass a relaxing afternoon watching avaritety of wildlife.the lake Turkana fishing lodge and the famous Eileyi springs lodge are both located on the western part of the lake while the El Molo Oasis lodge is on the eastern side.

North America consists of four countries: the United States of America, Canada, Mexico and Greenland. Also there is a small self-governing territory of France, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, located near the south shore of the Canadian island of Newfoundland.
